Big Build Project

Building Brighter Futures for Cornwall’s young lives
Donate, Make a Difference, Change Lives
To continue our vital charity work supporting over 500 highly vulnerable young people each year we urgently need to replace our end of life main facilities, old Porta Cabins, some of which have been in use for 35 years.
This Autumn we need to start building an efficient and fit for purpose facility to ensure we can give young people the future they deserve.

The need for our services

We’re striving to double our reach (from 5,000 young people a year in 2024, of whom 500 receive longer term specialist support) to Cornwall’s vulnerable young people.

Our trauma informed youth work in the outdoors is having a BIG impact – building resilience, relationships, communication, life skills and educational achievement. We’re seeing barriers overcome and fears conquered!

Our greatest threat

The biggest challenge and threat to continuing and developing our delivery is our old buildings, which are expensive to maintain and operate and limited in their scope to support young people to build skills, positive self-belief, confidence and relationships.
When these buildings fail, we risk having to close areas of the site and operations, reducing our activity and turning away young people in need.

Our urgent need

We need to replace our 10 porta cabins and sheds with new purpose built facilities (we’ve got planning permission already!).

New facilities will include a sensory room, space for IT training, areas for staff support, a music room, accessible provision, breakout rooms, counselling spaces and room for arts and crafts.

This is what we’re aiming for!
